  3. TO SPRAWL OR NOT TO SPRAWL?? What kind of community do you want Vernon to be?

    Schubert Centre, October 2, 7 – 8:30pm. Free panel discussion and letter writing session.

    Three panelists will share information on how the proposed 580 Commonage Hillside Development is out of step with Vernon’s new Official Community Plan (OCP), touching on issues such as sprawl, affordable housing, cost to taxpayers, nature and climate. 

    You’ll be able to write to Vernon’s Mayor and Council about your wishes and views for our collective future. Support provided with letter-writing.

    ***Please spread the news about this event – the Council needs to receive many letters in order to reverse direction.

  2. B.C. Green Party’s new leader is climate activist Emily Lowan. On taxes, the 25-year-old says…” billionaires in BC …have hoarded wealth and aren’t paying their fair share back to regular people in BC.”- CBC story here.

  3. Opposition leaders offer very different visions for B.C. at UBCM. Lowan focused on provincial climate initiatives and taxes for the wealthy, where Rustad concentrated on crime. Full story here.
