S.E.N.S. Events (May)
Book SENSe Social, May 8, 7 – 8:30 pm. Vernon Library Meeting Room. Everyone welcome to join us as we sponsor Virginia Dansereau and Sue Urquhart to chat about this book: Smoke and Ash: Reflections on the 2021 Vernon B.C. Area fires, which they co-ordinated with designer, Heather Clay. Dozens more of our own community members have provided powerful images of the fire through the book’s poems, stories, art, and photos.
Our book/magazine topics each month centre on environment, ecosystems and the wilds, and climate. Come, share, and enjoy new ideas! Hosted by: Sustainable Environment Network Society (SENS) www.sensociety.org
Call to Action
Open House on Our Commonage: May 14 (no place and time set yet) is the date set for an open house for all citizens to comment on the 4000 unit development tentatively (?) planned for a highly sensitive grassland – forest ecosystem set 580 for Commonage Road. What visual landscape do you wish to see up on the Commonage over the next few generations? Eventually an on-line survey will be made available, provided by the thinkmodus.ca group hired to run the upcoming open house and other focus groups. More details to follow. Should you wish to refresh your memories on SENS’ letter of concern, please contact me (jblissau@telus.net) and I’ll send the letter we sent to all Vernon council members.
