In a landmark ruling, the Hague District Court found the Netherlands must strengthen its climate mitigation and adaptation plans, including specific protections for citizens of the Caribbean island of Bonaire, as part of human rights obligations.   2. Ocean Warming Driving ‘Staggering’ Marine Life Loss, Study Warns. Reporting from The Guardian highlights new research showing chronic ocean heating is causing dramatic declines in marine life as rising seabed temperatures disrupt fragile ecosystems. Scientists warn that without rapid cuts to fossil fuel emissions, warming seas could accelerate biodiversity loss and threaten global food chains and coastal communities.
